What we do
Painted Filly Theatre exists in order to preserve and value the art of live theatre. It seeks to do this by cultivating new plays and identifying and supporting talented emerging artists. Our work has three strands — training, development, and production — in which we emphasize process as much as product.
The company was founded in 2005 by Jennifer Killelea & Ruth Pe Palileo in order to produce a new play called Jeremiah. Since then, the company has staged 8 more productions and numerous workshops, public readings, and other events, including 100 Minutes (2006, 2007, 2008 & 2009), Noise, Biography of Bernie Ward, The Common Will, and The Way of the Language Workshop Series.
Creative Producer Jennifer Killelea and Artistic Director Nick Johnson now work together to create theatre that excites and engages audiences with the power of the word and body.
